Cable Retractor for EV Charging Stations
BESSUN EV Charging Cable Retractors are spring-powered cable management systems designed to support and retract EV charging cables, keeping them off the ground and improving cable handling.
These cable spring retractors use a spring-loaded mechanism, similar to that found in industrial tool balancers, to provide controlled cable retraction for AC and DC charging applications.

See how the BESSUN EV Charging Cable Retractor supports and guides heavy DC charging cables during operation, allowing the cable to follow the user’s movement while reducing handling effort and unnecessary contact with the ground.
Why Use an EV Charging Cable Retractor?
EV charging cables can be heavy and difficult to manage, especially in DC fast charging applications.
Without proper cable management, cables may drag on the ground, become tangled, or suffer unnecessary mechanical wear.
BESSUN EV Charging Cable Retractors use an internal spring mechanism to provide retraction force through a flexible rope connected to the charging cable.
When the user pulls the charging cable, the rope extends from the retractor. After charging, the spring mechanism helps return the cable toward its storage position.
The retraction force can be configured according to the charging cable’s weight, diameter, and required working range.
Reduce Cable Dragging
Helps keep charging cables off the ground and reduces unnecessary wear.
Automatic Retraction
Helps return charging cables toward their storage position after use.
Flexible Integration
Suitable for different charging station designs and installation configurations.

With Lock or Without Lock?
BESSUN EV Charging Cable Retractors are available with or without a locking mechanism to accommodate different charging station designs and cable handling requirements.
With Lock
Allows the retractor rope to be secured at the desired extension, reducing continuous pulling force on the charging cable during use. The rope retracts automatically once the locking mechanism is released.
Without Lock
Provides continuous retraction force to keep the charging cable supported and organized. The rope automatically retracts as the charging cable is returned to its original position.
KEY BENEFIT
Holds the cable at the desired extension. Reduces continuous pulling force during charging
KEY BENEFIT
Provides continuous cable retraction. Simplifies operation with no manual unlocking required.
Note: The BSM-CRC model is shown as an example. Adjustment methods may vary by model and spring configuration.
Retraction Force Adjustment
Different EV charging cables require different retraction forces depending on their weight, diameter, length, and installation configuration.
BESSUN offers multiple spring configurations to accommodate different cable management requirements. For models with adjustable spring tension, the retraction force can be fine-tuned within the applicable range to achieve suitable cable support and handling performance.
Retraction force adjustment is typically carried out during the prototype testing and validation stage. Once the appropriate configuration is confirmed, the spring tension is preset at the factory for mass production, minimizing the need for further adjustment during installation or operation.
Cable Clamps & Accessories
BESSUN offers a range of cable clamps, rope guide wheels, and mounting accessories to support the integration of EV Charging Cable Retractors into different EV charging stations.
These accessories can be selected or customized according to the charging cable specifications, installation position, and charger design.

- Cable length
- Cable diameter
- Cable weight
- Cable routing / outlet position
Can one EV Charging Cable Retractor be set with an initial retraction force range of 60–120 N?
No. The initial retraction force of one EV Charging Cable Retractor is set to a specific value rather than a range such as 60–120 N.
The appropriate initial retraction force should be selected based on the charging cable specifications and installation requirements.
Can the initial retraction force be adjusted during sample testing?
Yes. The initial retraction force can be adjusted during sample testing to help determine the appropriate setting for the charging cable and installation conditions. Once the required initial retraction force is confirmed, it can be preset for mass production.
Please refer to the video below for the adjustment procedure.
Should I choose a Cable Retractor with or without a lock?
It depends on how you want the charging cable to operate.
With Lock: The cable can be locked at the required extension position, so the user does not need to continuously pull against the retraction force during charging.
Without Lock: The Cable Retractor continuously applies retraction force to the cable, helping keep the cable managed throughout use.
Both options are available for different operating preferences and application requirements.
What cable diameters are supported by the Cable Clamp?
BESSUN Cable Clamps are available for charging cables with diameters from approximately Ø16 mm to Ø43 mm. The appropriate clamp size should be selected according to the actual cable diameter.
For available sizes and specifications, see our Cable Clamp product page.
Are BSM-CRB and BSM-CRC the same size?
No. BSM-CRB and BSM-CRC have different external dimensions. They are also designed for different retraction force ranges and cable requirements.
Can I only order the cable clamps/holders?
Yes. We offer different type of cable clamps/holders for EV charging cables.
Can the mounting plate size be customized?
Yes. The mounting plate size and mounting hole positions can be customized according to the charging station design and installation requirements.
Can I use a stainless steel wire rope instead of the UHMWPE rope?
Yes, a stainless steel wire rope can be used, but it is not our recommended configuration. We recommend the standard UHMWPE rope for normal applications.
