Swing Arm for EV Charging Stations
BESSUN Swing Arms are EV charging cable management systems designed to support and counterbalance heavy charging cables, helping reduce cable sagging, twisting and handling effort while improving the charging experience.
See the Swing Arm in Action
See how the BESSUN Swing Arm supports and guides heavy DC charging cables during operation, allowing the cable to follow the user’s movement while reducing handling effort and unnecessary contact with the ground.
Why Use a Swing Arm?
DC fast charging cables are often heavy, thick, and difficult to handle, particularly in high-power charging applications. Without proper cable management, cables may drag on the ground, become twisted, or be exposed to damage from passing vehicles.
BESSUN Swing Arms provide a practical cable management solution by supporting and guiding charging cables during operation, helping improve safety, usability, and cable protection.
Support Heavy Charging Cables
Counterbalances the weight of heavy EV charging cables for easier handling.
Reduce Cable Dragging
Helps keep more of the cable off the ground during operation and storage.
Reduce Bending & Twisting
Allows cable to move naturally during charging, reducing unnecessary bending and twisting.
Improve Cable Handling
Reduces effort to move and position cables.

FAQ
Which model should I choose?
Start with cable weight, diameter and length, then review mounting position and working range. Select the arm, connection and clamp as an assembly.
What is the working load?
| Model | Working Load |
|---|---|
| BSM-SA1 | 30 kg |
| BSM-SA2 | 15 kg |
| BSM-SA3 | 30 kg |
| BSM-SA4 | 30 kg |
| BSM-SA5 |
Swing Arm: 30 kg Cable Retractor: 12 kg |
Is the 30 kg working load suitable for heavy EV charging cables?
In many applications, yes. As a reference, a 7 m DC charging cable with a diameter of approximately 43 mm and a weight of up to 20 kg is within the 30 kg working load of BSM-SA1, BSM-SA3, BSM-SA4 and the Swing Arm section of BSM-SA5.
However, cable suitability should not be determined by weight alone. Cable length, diameter, flexibility, routing, mounting position and required working range should also be considered. For project evaluation, please provide the cable specifications and installation details.
What is your maximum load? What does “Max. load @ 600 mm” mean?
“Max. Load @ 600 mm” refers to the maximum load applied to the Swing Arm when the load point is 600 mm from the mounting axis. It is different from the recommended working load for normal operation.
| Model | Max. Load @ 600 mm |
|---|---|
| BSM-SA1 | 80 kg |
| BSM-SA2 | 30 kg |
| BSM-SA3 | 80 kg |
| BSM-SA4 | 80 kg |
| BSM-SA5 | 80 kg (Swing Arm) |
Note: For BSM-SA5, the maximum load shown above refers to the Swing Arm.
The integrated Cable Retractor has a capacity of 12 kg.
Does the Swing Arm meet corrosion resistance requirements?
Yes. All BESSUN Swing Arm models (BSM-SA1, BSM-SA2, BSM-SA3, BSM-SA4 and BSM-SA5) have been tested in a neutral salt spray (NSS) chamber. The tested samples completed 240 hours of salt spray exposure without red rust.
What endurance tests have been done on the cable management system?
1)Endurance at room temperature
Q: What is the endurance test at room temperature?
A: While the design requirement is 50,000 cycles, our internal testing confirms stable operation for up to 100,000 cycles under the rated working load: 30 kg for BSM-SA1, BSM-SA3, BSM-SA4 and BSM-SA5, and 15 kg for BSM-SA2.
2)Endurance at +50 °C@90% relative humidity
Q: What test has been performed?
A: Static load test
- +50 °C, 24 hours, 80 kg@600mm, no breakage.
Q: Does this fulfill the 50,000-cycle requirement at +50 °C@90% RH?
A: No, only static testing has been done; cycling test not yet performed.
Q: Can you perform the 50,000-cycle test at +50 °C@90% RH?
A: Currently not, as a very large climatic chamber is required.
We kindly ask if this test can be carried out in your test laboratory.
3)Endurance at -40 °C
Q: What test has been performed?
A: Static load test at:
- -40 °C, 24 hours, 80 kg@600mm, no breakage.
Q: Does this fulfill the 50,000-cycle requirement at -40 °C?
A: No, only static testing has been done; cycling test not yet performed.
Q: Can you perform the 50,000-cycle test at -40 °C?
A: We currently cannot perform this cycling test.
We kindly ask if this endurance test can be carried out in your test laboratory.
What is your MOQ?
No MOQ. The sample lead time is 10 ~ 12 days.
What information should I provide when sending an inquiry?
To ensure we provide the best possible solution, it would be great to receive the following information:
- Cable Length
- Cable Diameter
- Total Cable Weight
What is the difference between BSM-SA1 and BSM-SA3? They look similar.
BSM-SA1 is our standard Swing Arm and is suitable for most EV charging station applications.
BSM-SA3 is a heavy-duty Swing Arm with a more robust structure, making it more suitable for larger DC fast charging stations. It is recommended for charging station cabinets with a depth of ≥ 800 mm.
Both models have a maximum load of 80 kg @ 600 mm.
Can I have a custom length and/or colour?
Yes. The Swing Arm can be customized to suit different charging station designs and installation requirements.
The main arm length can be customized from 200 mm to 1,000 mm, with 600 mm as the standard length. Custom colours are also available to match the charging station design or branding requirements.
Please contact us with your required arm length, colour and project details for evaluation.
Can we have a housing as a complete set?
Yes, we can design and produce a housing for you based on your EV charging station specifications. However, given the shipping costs, we would suggest that you manufacture it locally (at your end).
Can I only order the cable clamps?
Yes. Please let us know the diameter of your charging cable.
Is a Buffer Essential for a Swing Arm?
A buffer isn’t absolutely essential for a swing arm, but it’s highly recommended. However, using one helps reduce wear on the retractor mechanism and minimizes the risk of damage to the charging station over time.
Could you please share the advantages and disadvantages of hard and soft connections?
Soft connection: Absorbs and accommodates pulling forces, helping reduce shock loads, but may allow more sway or movement at the cable end.
Hard connection: Provides better positional control and minimizes sway, but transmits pulling forces more directly through the arm and connection point.
Can I retrofit an existing installation?
Retrofit suitability depends on the mounting structure, equipment interface and available clearance. Please send an installation drawing or site photographs for review.
What is the difference between BSM-SA1 and BSM-SA4?
BSM-SA1 and BSM-SA4 have similar load capacities, but they differ mainly in their external design.
BSM-SA1 has an exposed-arm design and is our standard Swing Arm solution.
BSM-SA4 features an integrated housing that covers the arm structure, providing a cleaner and more integrated appearance for the charging station.
Both models have a 30 kg working load and a maximum load of 80 kg @ 600 mm.
