Selection Guide: How to Choose the Right Swivel Arm Balancer for Your EV Charging Stations

At BESSUN, we frequently receive inquiries such as: How do I select the right swivel arm balancer? or My charging cable is 7m long; which model is best for my setup?”

Selecting the correct swivel arm balancer is critical – not only to extend the lifespan of your charging cables but also to ensure a clean, professional, and safe environment for your charging stations.

Below is our professional selection matrix based on cable length and outlet configuration.

1. Charging Cable Length up to 5 m

For standard installations with cable lengths of 5m or less, you have the highest flexibility.

  • Compatible Models: BSM-SA1, BSM-SA2, BSM-SA3, and BSM-SA4.
  • Configuration: These models are fully compatible regardless of whether your charging station’s cable outlet is located at the bottom, middle, or top. They provide excellent tension control and keep the workspace tidy.

2. Charging Cable Length 5–7 m

When moving to longer cables, the charging cable outlet becomes the deciding factor:

  • Middle or Top Outlet: Our standard line (BSM-SA1-SA4) remains efficient and highly recommended.
  • Bottom Outlet: For EV chargers with lower outlets, we recommend moving to model BSM-SA5. This model will not waste too much cable length.

3. Charging Cable Length 7–10 m

Managing long-reach cables requires precision to prevent tripping hazards and equipment wear.

  • At 7 m: The BSM-SA5 is the ideal choice. It manages the extra length without significant slack.
  • Up to 10 m: While the BSM-SA5 can be used, a cable of this length may still partially touch the ground due to its weight and total span.

For 10m cables, we highly recommend considering overhead solutions. This ensures the cable is fully suspended, protecting the plug from impact, moisture, or being run over by vehicles.

A well-managed cable isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about safety. By choosing the right BESSUN Swivel Arm Balancer, you prevent cable dragging, reduce wear on the internal wiring, and provide a much better user experience for EV drivers.
